Tom serves as Communications Director for Councilmember Krekorian. In that role, he oversees media relations, social media platforms, and constituent communications.

Tom previously served as communications director for the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority and before that the Los Angeles Unified School District. Tom began his career in government working as the San Fernando Valley-based press secretary and district director to former Congressman Howard Berman. He helped to spearhead the effort to construct a swimming and boating lake at Hansen Dam and played a key role in the rebuilding of the El Portal Theater following the 1994 Northridge
Earthquake.

Tom is the author of Not Much Left: The Fate of Liberalism in America (University of California Press, 2008). In his spare, time he likes to read non-fiction books – history and politics – and contemporary novels. He also follows the fortunes of LA’s three major sports teams, through bad times and good.
