METRO BOARD APPROVES EAST SAN FERNANDO VALLEY LIGHT RAIL PROJECT

The Metro Board today approved the final configuration of the East San Fernando Valley Corridor project, which will be the first light rail transit line in the Valley since the demise of the Red Cars in 1952. The project will connect the Van Nuys Metro station with the Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink station, servicing busy commercial corridors and densely populated residential areas in the Valley.

KREKORIAN/FEUER LETTER PROMPTS FAA TO EXTEND COMMENT PERIOD REGARDING BURBANK AIRPORT REPLACEMENT TERMINAL

In response to a request from Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian and Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, the Federal Aviation Administration has granted an extension of the comment period regarding the draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed replacement terminal at the Hollywood Burbank Airport.  The FAA action means the public now has until October 27 to comment on the nearly 3,000-page document.

Airplane Noise Task Force Offers Recommendations

In 2017, communities throughout the South San Fernando Valley began experiencing dramatic changes in the amount and location of airplane noise from Burbank and Van Nuys airports.  Many neighborhoods that had never before experienced significant aircraft disturbance were suddenly being barraged with a nearly constant series of planes overhead producing disruptive, roaring noise.

Lawsuit Against Federal Aviation Administration

For more than two years, the City Attorney and I have put the Federal Aviation Administration on notice that failure to comply with repeated requests for specific information about a southward shift in departures from Burbank Airport could prompt legal action. During that time the agency has answered our requests and those of the community with a series of evasive and hollow responses or non-responses.

City Council Approves Taxi Reform

This week the Council approved a motion that replaces the existing taxi franchise system with an open permitting system. I strongly believe these changes, set to be implemented in July 2020, will greatly benefit both drivers and riders.

Krekorian Sponsors Mobile Apps Ordinance To Ease Traffic

LOS ANGELES - In recent years it has become apparent that even certain out-of-the-way streets in CD2 are not immune to gridlock. The prime reason is Waze, the GPS navigation software App owned by Google, which routes drivers to seemingly open streets in an attempt to get around traffic.
