Middle School Marches to the Beat of an Award-Winning Drumline

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - This spring, James Madison Middle School's drumline team won the "Drums Across California" state championship title. The team dominated the competition, winning nine out of 10 categories and capturing the coveted "Gold Drum" award for best overall performance. It was the first year that the team competed in the indoor drumline competition.

DWP Is Updating Our Water Pipes

VALLEY VILLAGE/STUDIO CITY AND NORTH HOLLYWOOD - The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is in the process of upgrading its aging water infrastructure with two critical projects in portions of Council District 2. These projects are essential to our city, but will cause some disruption to the flow of traffic and to area businesses. Councilmember Krekorian is working with DWP to lighten the impact of the projects on our neighborhoods and to support local residents during this process.

Taking Action to Protect Neighborhood Trees

LOS ANGELES - Last month, Councilmember Krekorian introduced a motion to protect the city's large urban forest of mature street trees, thousands of which are removed each year due to private development and new construction. The motion instructs city departments, including the Planning Dept., the Dept. of Building and Safety, and the Bureau of Street Services Urban Forestry Division to study and adopt new policies that force developers to consider existing street trees before plans for new garages, driveways and curb cuts are approved.
