Studio City was founded in 1927 with a motion picture studio at its center. The community maintained its prominence in the film industry throughout the 1940s and the 1950s becoming a haven for actors like James Stewart, Betty Davis, Tony Curtis, John Wayne, among others. Today, Studio City remains a center of filming of Los Angeles, housing CBS Studios and others. Among the community’s nearly 40,000 residents are numerous actors and television personalities, Studio City is also known for its large amounts of open space and parks.
