Report Shows LA's Homelessness By the Numbers

Gun Safety Measure Banning Large-Capacity Magazines Signed into Law

LOS ANGELES - At an Aug. 7 ceremony attended by gun violence survivors, families of victims and gun safety advocacy organizations, Councilmember Paul Krekorian joined Mayor Eric Garcetti as he signed Krekorian’s law banning the possession of large-capacity ammunition magazines in the City of Los Angeles. With the Mayor’s signature, Krekorian’s law will go into effect in 30 days, making it a misdemeanor to possess large-capacity magazines that carry more than 10 rounds. LA residents who have such magazines will have a 60 days after the law takes effect to dispose of them, turn them over to the LAPD or legally sell them. Continue reading

LA City Council Unanimously Votes to Require Safe Storage for Handguns

LOS ANGELES- The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved (14-0) a policy, written and pushed by Councilmember Paul Krekorian, that will require all handgun owners in Los Angeles to store their handguns in a locked container or disable them with a trigger lock when kept in their home. The only time a handgun need not be stored or locked is when it is carried on the owner’s body or within the owner’s close proximity and control. Continue reading
