Krekorian's Office Becomes Scene of 'Major Crimes'

LOS ANGELES - This week, Councilmember Krekorian welcomed the production team of Major Crimes to his downtown office in City Hall.

The film crew transformed the office space into the set of the popular TNT network crime drama starring Mary McDonnell, Tony Denison and Raymond Cruz, among others in its acclaimed cast. A spin-off of the critically applauded show The CloserMajor Crimes is set in Los Angeles and follows the challenges of Los Angeles Police Department's major crimes division as they try to close the department's highest profile cases.

Major Crimes was one of 27 productions in 2015 to benefits from California's newly expanded Film and TV Tax Credit Program. According to a new report from FilmLA, on-location production increased in Los Angeles in 2015.

Councilmember Krekorian has long championed the cause of keeping filming and film and TV jobs local. He authored the state's first successful film and TV tax credit when he was a state Assemblymember in 2009 and pushed hard for the expanded version that the Governor signed into law last year.
