Giving for Good

The holiday season has arrived. As people get together with family, friends and co-workers to celebrate, now is the time to embrace the spirit of community and giving.

While many of us look forward to getting holiday presents from our friends and loved ones, we also enjoy giving gifts in return. For me the holidays isn't just about giving to those we know, the true spirit of the season is best captured when we act selflessly toward people we don't know by giving generously to people in need.

In the coming weeks, there are many wonderful opportunities in Council District 2 to give back to the community. Local nonprofits, business organizations, neighborhood groups, public service agencies, and incredible individuals are lending their hands and asking others to do the same to benefit disadvantaged residents. This is truly something to celebrate. I sincerely and emphatically hope that you participate in as many of these efforts as possible.

I also hope that you will join me on December 8 at my annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive in Studio City. This drive will directly benefit underprivileged families across Council District 2. Please bring non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toys with you to the event. I'll be there to greet you and we can have a cup of coffee together.

Give early and give often. Even a small amount of your time and support will do a world a good. You can help make another family's holiday season so much brighter.

Thank you for your generosity.
